Every score comparison on this page is the result of a documented editorial process — sourced from label releases, mastered pressings, and a volunteer archivist network that has cross-checked 87% of cataloged entries against original mastering credits.
Each pairing begins with two physical or digital sources of record: the original label release (or, where rights prevent listening access, the label's internal cue sheet) and a second pressing or edition for contrast. The editorial team then indexes the cue list — composer, orchestrator, performer, runtime, and master engineer — before writing the comparative notes. Where a composer interview is cited, it is attributed to its published source; we do not paraphrase interviews as direct quotation.
Cross-referencing is mandatory. Each entry is checked against Discogs, AllMusic, and the Cartoon Music Database, and where mastering data is unclear we note it as such rather than infer. Listening links point to DSP embeds where rights allow; we never embed full tracks longer than thirty seconds, and unofficial or bootleg releases are flagged as such rather than presented as commercial alternatives.
Collectors who use these comparisons to identify a pressing should still verify the matrix number against the disc itself — pressing identification by matrix alone is not a guarantee, and our notes are a starting point, not a substitute, for hands-on confirmation.
