Walsh, Robert J.

The Sunbow era. Walsh composed and conducted the original 1984 score that opened the cartoon and its syndication run, then supervised the bulk of the show’s incidental music through The Rebirth. Every Walsh credit has been cross-checked against label ledgers, the composer’s own hand-written cue sheets, and the Sunbow music library held at the UCLA Archive.

The 1986 film score that turned a Saturday-morning property into a synth-orchestral landmark. DiCola’s catalog here covers the original Scotti Brothers pressing, the 1993 Movie Score reissue, and the 2018 La-La Land expanded edition — alongside the inevitable bootleg traffic the archive documents but does not endorse.

Section IV · Methodology

How a composer credit makes it into the index

Every name on this page has been verified against at least two independent sources: the original label’s printed liner, a contemporary press release or trade review, or a label-ledger entry made available through one of our fourteen volunteer archivists. We do not accept credits lifted from community wikis, fan databases, or unattributed forum posts.

Where two names compete for the same credit — the recurring Kraft / Sturrock case on the Sunbow cues, for example, or the Giacchino / Balfe shared themes across the Bay-verse cycle — we publish both attributions, link to the conflicting primary documents, and let the reader decide. The archive is a reference, not a verdict.
